You’re under arrest for impersonating a police officer.

I call shenanigans on the “Established churches only, please” link, at least until I see other sources. The linked article only quotes the alleged victim’s lawyer as a source, and the county spokeswoman was “unable to locate the details of the account”. This is suspiciously similar to a case a couple of years back when some college student claimed he was interrogated by Homeland Security after requesting a Chairman Mao book through inter-library loan: it turned out to be perhaps the most elaborate excuse for a late paper ever.

They weren’t the droids he was looking for.

    Charles H.,

Could be — but I’ve known of similar cases before.

Re Gangsters in Blue — great site, but the About page could use a line or two.

    Onion-worthy:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/28/style/28hugs.html?_r=5&pagewanted=1

“Comforting as the hug may be, principals across the country have clamped down. “Touching and physical contact is very dangerous territory,” said Noreen Hajinlian, the principal of George G. White School, a junior high school in Hillsdale, N.J., who banned hugging two years ago. “It was needless hugging — they are in the hallways before they go to class. It wasn’t a greeting. It was happening all day.”

“Schools that have limited hugging invoked longstanding rules against public displays of affection, meant to maintain an atmosphere of academic seriousness and prevent unwanted touching, or even groping.”

    http://www.salon.com/mwt/broadsheet/feature/2009/05/28/hug_threat/index.html

Actually, I could feel kinda awkward and nervous about hugging at that age. But, in general, healthy human contact should make people feel better. I hope that people feel less repressed. I hope that this will threaten American regimes’ ability to kill people at home and abroad…

I’ll also zillionth Alice Miller’s works.

“Touching and physical contact is very dangerous territory,” said… principal of George G. White School… who banned hugging.

    Stop. Dead stop.

This Empire is irredeemably evil. Not ‘usually lawful evil’ evil but ‘I crawled out of the lower planes and give praise to all the lords of Baator evil’.

OK, I won’t work will deliberate racists, but I’ll sure as Heck work with well-intended secessionists against this Monster. This is easily as sick as some terk’s Mississippi ban on interracial dating.

    Nuke the bastards.

The 2012 thing is stopping being funny about now.

I’m a Free Hugs person, myself, and I would think that a good education in an open society would include the encouragement of exchanges of genuine comfort, and how to differentiate between genuine and not; how to ask if it’s okay with someone, how to effectively say ‘no’ or ‘stop’ if necessary.

Let me correct myself; day before yesterday I wrote that the public schools are only one of many slaughterbenches of individuals…..how about the main one? I could really have used some genuine hugs with classmates who cared for me back then. Academic seriousness by forbidding hugs?….what a cruel joke…a lesson in self-negation and mindless obedience, and politically very dangerous as the prohibition of interpersonal bonding gestures takes away much of the ability to resist injustice.

To be truly serious about it, the public schools have been under pressure from the Religious Right and the military-industrial complex for a long, long time to promote conservative values, blind obedience, and corporate technical skills to the exclusion of critical thinking, social skills, liberal arts or self-knowledge.

Free Hugs: important acts of solidarity and resistance.

Honestly, I think the war on breast feeding is doing worse. It does at least as much damage to the kids’ minds, and it can kill.

  12. Victoria

Marja, you have a good point there, both in the nutritional quality of your own mother’s breast milk over formula, and the emotional bonding of mother and child through breastfeeding; nurturing the emotional security of the child as a worthy and valued individual.

  13. Nick "Natasha" Manley

    Victoria,

Sweetie, I still owe you a hug in San Francisco. I miss you! And Starchild too plus a few others who shall remain nameless for privacy’s sake.

I should finally get around to saving up the money for that trip ~ having 1400 in savings and no budget is a bad way to live for an newly aspiring economic rebel ( :

Fortunately, I am a “crooked” baribian with plenty of connections…

I will HUG the beautiful/delightful Angela Keaton upon meeting her tomorrow ~ received a wonderful call from her tonight. I am going to be seeing Brad S give a speech at this Boston Tea Party event too.

    Let the revolution commence!

For those without a mainstream boring Progressive kneejerk reaction to admirers of Rand protesting taxation in the wake of Bush-Obama’s reckless Weimar spending; here is the party’s website: http://www.bostontea.us/program

Those 4 points are ones EVERY opponent of the murderous empire can take seriously. The Green Party candidate even endorsed it. The left needs to wake the hell up and realize secessionist type Tea Party socially progressive hardcore libertarians like Angela Keaton are more trustworthy than the Democrats. Unfortunately, there are people on the left who do really distrust individualism and thus make themselves my political enemies more often than I’d like. Nonetheless, I am throwing in my lot with the likes of communalists like Marja. Fuck the coercive establishment left. They can enjoy their Obamarrchy. I prefer my freedom.

  14. Nick "Natasha" Manley

Er: I do not wish to engage in tribal bashing. I recognize there are well intentioned statist leftists like Belledame of Fetch Me My Axe ~ whose passionate writing I enjoy immensely. I am a regular commenter on her blog. We have a cordial relationship and her venue has been hospitable to me being expressive of my anti-statist views. I was even part of one of the Feminist carnivals for sexual freedom and autonomy she has a role in organizing ~ I emailed her my piece on the morality of misery implicit in the theocratic ethics.

I truly do love my mother, stepmother, father, stepcousin, and stepsister ~ all of whom are more well intentioned social democratic than me. My stepcousin even told me she had been leaning towards anarchism, because she thought working outside of the system was the way to go but had qualms about justice ~ me too. I am a proto anarchist radical minarchist like Aster right now.

My amazing Progressive Green Party gay friend Wick who is an amazing LGBT activist plus involved in leftist counter-economics like community gardens and DIY projects.

And that ends my drumroll for now! Sleep

Love you all! Wish some of you liberty women would join me in debauchery…

Craigslist has totally failed me for interesting fuck buddy meet ups so far. I am henceforth accepting emails from female friends of liberty seeking quasi-“escort” casual set ups. Be friendly to gender ambiguity please.

  15. Marja Erwin

Well, if there’s one thing we’ve learned in the course of our friendship, Nick – you’re too much of a man for me. ;)

Luckily, I have kept my sanity intact.

  16. Aster

“I’m a Free Hugs person, myself.”

    Commie.

“I will HUG the beautiful/delightful Angela Keaton upon meeting her tomorrow.”

And you’ll tip her, I am certain? Right?

“Luckily, I have kept my sanity intact.”

    Cthulhu, eat me first!

  17. Nick "Natasha" Manley

    Haha

Well, I am not sure if Angela will hug me upon first meet. And sure: if she wants a tip, then I suppose I must be a good individualist ~ pay her.

  18. Marja Erwin

    Nick,

You whisper sweet words about value for value, but really, you want to hug and cuddle with womyn without paying.

  19. Aster in Bangkok (why am I awake this early??)

Nick: And sure: if she wants a tip, then I suppose I must be a good individualist~ pay her.

Aster: (to Nick) It would, whether she asks or not, be a respectful thing to offer, especially given the courage she showed to come out to the libertarian movement, and what that gesture personally cost her. It would also be an excellent way to get a good name in the sex worker activist community- and, given your appreciation of and support for this community, be in your rational self-interest.

  20. Nick "Natasha" Manley

I did jokingly offer her an experience with a young guy for cash. She was fun to meet! I just got back from the meet.

  21. Nick "Natasha" Manley

Angela isn’t a sex worker right now ~ unless I missed something. It’s fun to hug allies/friends too. Some people are more averse to them though.

Still: if someone wants a tip for a hug, then I can see something developing out of that. Thx for the advice.

  22. Victoria

I love it when you call me a Commie!!!

    More Free Hugs!

  23. Nick "Natasha" Manley

Oops! By saying “it’s fun to hug allies/friends too”; I did not mean that sex workers can’t be allies or friends. I was just clarifying the platonic nature of my hug.
