Take Action Against Inhumane Names for Children!
Here's a pretty old legacy post from the blog archives of Geekery Today; it was written about 23 years ago, in 2001, on the World Wide Web.
A new and very worthy cause: the Institute for Naming Children Humanely
Why we have to act:
Children, actual, living children, were inflicted with these names:
Glammoris | (Combining the spectacle of “Glamour” with the banality of “Morris”) |
Jenyffer | (I bet they thought “Jennifer” was too common. This is not the way to resolve that problem.) |
Celicia | (At first glance, it looks like a name, but then you realize it isn’t.) |
Quncel | (This becomes easier to pronounce if you follow the Pinyin system.) |
Konner | (Any real Irishmen out there want to tell us what happened here?) |
Alaric | (Okay, Alaric the Visigoth was an important historical figure, but still.) |

Perhaps Cilicia is a descendant of the ancient land of Cilicia.

I guess that sounded better in my head.
