Here's a pretty old post from the blog archives of Geekery Today; it was written about 17 years ago, in 2007, on the World Wide Web.
Ron Paul’s supporters have been putting a lot of volunteer work into amateur ads promoting his campaign. With all this activity, I feel like I ought to set aside my carping, and do my part after all. So here you go, Ron Paul Revolutionaries: a couple of contributions of my own, in accordance with the spirit and the general tone of ads like this recent Land of the Free video. Behold:

If there’s a flaw with this idea, it’s that it’s unduly snide toward the cultural revolution. Given that neoliberals, neocons and the Chinese kleptocrats all agree on hating it so much it can’t have been all that bad. Anyway, cool images.
Neoliberals, neoconservatives, and Chinese kleptocrats all agree on breathing, too, but I don’t hold that against it.
During the Cultural Revolution, several million innocent people were persecuted, beaten, tortured, imprisoned, enslaved, forcibly displaced or killed, for the non-crime of intellectual or political dissent. The messianic cult of personality around Mao Zedong was one of the many grotesquely authoritarian excuses for the brutality. I see no reason to try to spare the feelings of the Red Guards.
