Shameless Self-promotion Sunday
Here's a pretty old post from the blog archives of Geekery Today; it was written about 14 years ago, in 2010, on the World Wide Web.
It’s Sunday. Everybody get Shameless.
What have you been up to this week? Write anything? Leave a link and a short description for your post in the comments. Or fire away about anything else you might want to talk about.

Zero blogging energy here lately, but I anon-published a friend’s piece about domestic violence.

I finished reading Peter Leeson’s The Invisible Hook and began thinking about, and sketching out, an article responding to Leeson’s treatment of pirates’ democratic workplace arrangements.

Oh lordy, I’m launching a one woman crusade against Bitch Magazine because of this horribly misogynist, bi-phobic, and all-around fucked up article they posted about Casey Johnson & Tila Tequila. (For those who don’t know, Bitch is a feminist publication that discusses pop culture events and trends, hence the focus on a fluff piece of news.)
When about a dozen or more readers complained and I mentioned that I would not be renewing my subscription, Kelsey Wallace (web editor) popped onto the threat to deflect all criticism back to the author (via a standard “the opinions presented are not shared by Bitch” disclaimer). I pointed out that they would likely never ask Angela Keaton or Camille Paglia to write any articles for them under the same disclaimer (which is the intention of it) and I don’t think they were terribly happy. Kelsey told everyone in the thread who was pissed off to send her an email with complaints; I’m still waiting for a response.
Here is the entire mess:
Sapphic Salon: The Death of a Feminist Publication, The Rise of the Fake Alternative Media (first post; link heavy, gives as much detail as necessary) Kelsey Wallace, web editor of Bitch Magazine, ignores reader complaints (second post; me griping about having my email ignored even though the web editor encouraged those uppity lesbos and half lesbos to email her with criticism) Stay classy, Bitch Magazine! (final post in which it’s confirmed that Bitch Magazine doesn’t give a shit about LGBT issues)
I’m trying to get the word out here, because I’m pretty pissed off. As you know, I’m a pretty radical feminist….and bisexual. I’m not hep on reading a purported feminist publication only to have my sexuality dismissed or mocked. That shit is played out, son! I want other feminists to know that Bitch’s staff is acting pretty crappy about the matter and I guess put out a “buyer beware” esque notice.
