Shameless Self-promotion Sunday #17

Here's a pretty old post from the blog archives of Geekery Today; it was written about 16 years ago, in 2008, on the World Wide Web.

It's Sunday again; that means it's time for Shameless Self-Promotion.

So, what did you all write about this week? Leave a link and a short description for your post in the comments.

I answered the question “are you anti-American?” in the affirmative.

Like most decent people, I was upset about what was happening in the twin cities.

It’s time for the activist movement to modify their tactics to reflect the new environment. Flaunting our outrage in the hopes of media attention and citizen backlash has failed. Throwing our bodies on the gears of the machine has not slowed it, let alone stopped it. Protesting every violation of our rights just demonstrates in spades how vulnerable and dependent we are. Demonstrating and organizing just provide easy targets for agent provocateurs, infiltration, and extralegal, preemptive harassment.

Protest doesn’t work in a totalitarian police state. Acknowledging that condition is the first step towards fixing it. Whatever we’re going to do, it’s time to start doing it underground. It doesn’t have to be violent, but it does have to be realistic about the threat.

I spent the week in the Twin Cities. Tomorrow I should have a pretty detailed post of what happened around me.

One of the things I did was write a flyer to give to the Ron Paul folks in Minneapolis. The text is on my blog and I’d love to have more comments on it.

I didn’t do much productive blogging last week, my google reader is backlogged with like 300 blogposts and articles that I wanted to read and respond to, and I’ve got a dozen (or more) working drafts in the hopper, but having difficulty finding the time to really get anything going.

I got a chance to post a bit of Warrenite propaganda that I particularly like, and I just posted some thoughts about moving forward from the last week’s events.
