Shameless Self-promotion Sunday #35

Here's a pretty old post from the blog archives of Geekery Today; it was written about 15 years ago, in 2009, on the World Wide Web.

It’s Sunday. Let’s get shameless.

What have you been up to in the past week? Write anything? Leave a link and a short description for your post in the comments. Or fire away about anything else you might want to talk about.

The Right to Exist, about the Arab-Israeli conflict. Not really about the current action, just a general discussion.

I published the beta version of ALLiance (which you so kindly blogged about). There are a limited number of print copies. Email chris (at) chrislempa.info if you are interested.

The experience I recounted in You are not the bank’s customer got a lot of attention, mostly via Reddit.

I also did a bit of ‘splaining ’bout why the smallest acts of resistance still have value in Educating for anarchism #4 — a reply to FSK.

I watched a foreign film that got me thinking about libertinism within anarchism. It seems like some people are anarchists just to “shock the normal people”, and the film images I saw evoked that. In the film one of the characters goes from a serious, hard-working student to a slutty street girl who hangs around with gang members. I’m not saying it’s ok to not study in school or work hard, but logically in an anarchy people are going to have to make decisions for themselves and to some extent everybody else would just have to deal with that. On the other hand, I like freedom but not if it means crazed nudists running around or people randomly setting stuff on fire. This blog report from zombietime shows what I mean (warning not safe for work):

I mean seriously, these people can’t be operating on all cylinders if they are painting murals of Nixon and the Vietcong shouting “No Napalm!” It’s the wrong war!

    Hey Charles,

I checked on Anarchoblogs and it says my RSS feed is compatible, but the site I don’t know how compatible the actual format of the site I’m on right now is; it’s really more essay-style. I also have some off topic stuff on there that isn’t related to Anarchy. I’m going to get an actual blog set up in the next few days and I’ll edit stuff down so it’s more blog friendly and link to that.

In the meantime, this is the history of the Wobblies that I mentioned I had been working on:

    http://hubpages.com/_blogcommentz/hub/We-Need-the-Wobblies-Now-More-Than-Ever

I did quite alot of research on it, but some of it was hard to track down, so I’d be interested in any feedback or corrections you (or anybody else) might have regarding it.

    talk to ya later, Kelly
