Shameless Self-promotion Sunday #50

Here's a pretty old post from the blog archives of Geekery Today; it was written about 15 years ago, in 2009, on the World Wide Web.

A very shameless Sunday, and a happy Mother’s Day for Peace, to you all.

From the bosom of a devastated Earth a voice goes up with
Our own. It says: Disarm! Disarm!
The sword of murder is not the balance of justice.

Blood does not wipe out dishonor,
Nor violence indicate possession.
As men have often forsaken the plough and the anvil
At the summons of war,
Let women now leave all that may be left of home
For a great and earnest day of counsel.
Let them meet first, as women, to bewail and commemorate the dead.
Let them solemnly take counsel with each other as to the means
Whereby the great human family can live in peace…

— Julia Ward Howe (1870): Mother’s Day Proclamation

I went to Sex 2.0 this weekend ~ http://sex20con.com/. I met some very interesting individualistic nerdy people. It turned out to be a first rate joyful experience. I wish to spare your readers the graphic details, but I was publicly “accosted” by a bisexual man. That turned into an eyebrow raising experience involving ice cream…I might have to revisit my earlier bisexuality inklings.

A major highlight was a friendly kiss from an interesting nerdy woman. I could get used to being a cute one with curly hair ( :

What was so funny was meeting a guy who called himself a kinky Republican ~ I joked that he must not be from the religious wing of the party. He seemed much more Libertarian. Speaking of which: I had a really fun talk with a self-described hardcore conservative dominatrix there. A conservative in the Libertarian vein ~ obviously not the Sarah Palin mold. She will hopefully prove a good friend ~ only just saw her at the event. I am looking forward to talking further with her.

In other news: I am shifting away from the hardcore activist mold and proudly decided not to engage in an online debate today ~ when I realized the probability of achieving a resolution. It seems that many people simply read and hear what confirms their existing beliefs. I can be as guilty of that as anyone else. Most of the stuff I read on a daily basis is pretty much material to nod to. I should probably change that!

Plus truth be told: I am at my worst in hardcore activist mold. I see the same in other bloggers or online writers placing their happiness in achieving this comprehensive agenda. The most intense frustration and dualistic tribalistic emotions come out in me via the crusader mentality. It’s no healthy state of mind to be in at all ~ as George Bush notably shows us.

I just realized I have dual personas.

I am both Nick Manley and Natasha. How cool is that?

Does anyone on here know of bigender or genderqueer resources?

Victoria, you might be able to help with this.

Ok. We all need some comic relief from the craziness that is this world.

The Onion piece below reminded me of ethical sluttly perspectives on resolving dilemmas.

Its titled I Fuck My Way Into This, And I’ll Fuck My Way Out

    Enjoy!
