Shameless Self-promotion Sunday #59

Here's a pretty old post from the blog archives of Geekery Today; it was written about 15 years ago, in 2009, on the World Wide Web.

It’s Sunday. You know the deal.

What have you been up to this week? Write anything? Leave a link and a short description for your post in the comments. Or fire away about anything else you might want to talk about.

I finished the rough draft of a book a few days ago. Today, though, I’ve been absorbed by http://www.xtranormal.com, which allows one to create animated movies with amazing ease.

That’s awesome, Gary. This is “The Conscience of an Anarchist”, correct?

I opened a BlogTalkRadio account and scheduled two shows for Tuesday and Thursday this week from 4-6PM CST. For those unaware, I research geopolitical relations, so I the show will be similar to my blog in standing out mostly as an anti-war site. I’d love to have you on to discuss it. Don’t you have a book (“Law and Economic Justice”, I believe) coming out this year?

I worked a report for about 10 days that kept myself and my co-editor from doing much for the blog this week, but I did post an entry that’s good for sharing: ‘Western Diplomats Offering Support for Israeli Strike on Iran’, using the Thursday London “Times” article as my primary source, which confirmed the West’s consent for Israel making a “pre-emptive” strike against Iran as the Israel Navy floats through the Suez Canal with nuclear subs.

I wrote an anarchist primer, specifically designed to take on the troll-arguments I hear a lot. Whether it will be effective remains to be seen.

Very disturbing stuff, Alex. US leadership seems, as usual, all too sanguine about the possibility of war. But that’s just the way states are, I suspect.

I’d be glad to discuss The Conscience of an Anarchist on your show, even though it’s a little early to talk about it as a finished product. Thanks for the chance to do so.

This isn’t really responsive to your request, but I thought I’d point out:

If you were an Athenian, you could be RadGreek.

If you were an Objectivist, you could be RandGeek.

If you were a fan of Angelina Jolie’s husband, you could be BradGeek.

And if I end up going back to school, I’ll be GradGeek.

If it were in the Lyceum, I guess that would make me GradGreek. (Also, the possessor of a successful time-travel device. Hooray!)

    mb2p,

Looks good — but in the links at the end, I think where you wrote “all.net” you meant “all-left.net”

  8. mb2p

wow…that’s pretty awkward, when you see what that links to. thanks for the heads-up.

    Charles,

A post on Roderick’s new debacle seems warranted. My own funds are meager right now, but I am doing what I can to help Rod. I am looking into finding him a Libertarian tax lawyer to deal with any legal issues.

(None of this is my stuff but…) Not sure if you’ve remarked on this already, but I just came across this sad story of Judge Sotomayor convincing the two other judges on a panel to change their minds and throw out a jury verdict against an off-duty cop. The case looks pretty ugly. Oh, and Crooked Timber has a guest-post from a police captain / philosophy PhD candidate (sigh) who reminds us all that “The police are called to situations with the purpose of seizing control over them, examining them, and bringing them to a conclusion that serves the interests of justice and public safety as established by their oversight.” Sigh!

Well re update: make that lawyer in general…

Just some news from my neck of the woods:

    http://www.cbc.ca/canada/new-brunswick/story/2009/07/24/nb-woodside-fredericton-police-1046.html

I find this fucking ridiculous that he compared the police to a sports team. Oh my freaking god.
