Shameless Self-promotion Sunday

Here's a pretty old post from the blog archives of Geekery Today; it was written about 15 years ago, in 2009, on the World Wide Web.

Two things.

Alliance of the Libertarian Left Ad Hoc Global Organizing Committee

First, a shout-out on behalf of the ALL Ad Hoc Global Organizing Committee. Are you yourself, or do you know anybody who is, an individualist anarchist, agorist, mutualist, left-Rothbardian, or otherwise on the libertarian left, who happens to live in or nearby any of the following metropolitan areas?

Are you yourself, or is the ALLy that you know, interested in meeting like-minded people and getting (more) involved in local activism and organizing? If so, please drop me a line with your or their contact information. I have some requests from prospective local organizers who are looking for people to start locals for the Alliance of the Libertarian Left. I would love to be able to put interested ALLies in contact with each other.

Second, it’s Sunday. You know what that means: Shamelessness.

What have you been up to this week? Write anything? Leave a link and a short description for your post in the comments. Or fire away about anything else you might want to talk about.

Really, I’m just trying to enjoy the summer before classes get under way again in September. But, to appear busy:

–I’ve been having an interesting exchange with the redoubtable Stephan Kinsella about my draft book, The Conscience of an Anarchist.

–There was a brief moment when it looked as if I might get a chance to talk about an anarchist perspective on health care on Berkeley’s KPFA; my scheduled Friday appearance was canceled because of double booking, and I’ve heard nothing more, after an initial suggestion from the station, about coming on this week instead. I’ve been a long-time listener to and fan of Pacifica; I’d be dismayed to discover that I’d suffered the same fate as AntiWar radio’s Scott Horton, whose show was denied a slot on Pacifica’s LA sation, KPFK (recall that Pacifica was founded, per its name, to promote the cause of peace), because of his purportedly mistaken economic views (even though, of course, his program isn’t per se, about economics at all.

OK, long diatribe over . . . . I want to emphasize how grateful I’ve been for the really useful suggestions I received re. talking points for the interview from a range of people within the market anarchist world. Since I’m here, thanks especially to Charles.

I am looking for feedback and advice on one of my game projects:

    http://www.grognard.com/board.html#n05

I would like to minimize the learning curve, make it more accessible to non-gamers, and make it into an activist resource.

I wrote a blog post about Participatory Tyranny: http://darianworden.com/blog/2009/08/participatory-tyranny/

I plan to stay away from blogging for a while to make time for other projects. So I made sure the top post was appropriate: http://darianworden.com/blog/2009/08/i-apologize-for-nothing/

My most recent blog post, Active Listening as Conflict Resolution, is the start of something larger. Hopefully this will work itself out sooner rather than later.

I have also been working on the next issue of ALLiance. This next issue will be the best yet.

Heh…I attempted to inject an anti-“gun control” view on a popular statist-liberal community site, & reported back the result: http://www.psychopolitik.com/2009/08/smell-the-coffee/

I commented on and critiqued Stephan Kinsella’s recent piece on libertarianism: http://polycentricorder.blogspot.com/2009/08/definition-and-scope-of-libertarianism.html
